I want to be like Shunsuke.

I saw a picture of Hidetoshi Nakata at my visitor's blog site.(hey, i'm talking about you, koto.) It seems she likes Hede, and I like him, too. I deeply understand his philosophy, so I thought I would do the same thing after his last World Cup game if I were him. However I like Shunsuke Nakamura rather than him. Because I tend to be longing to a person who has a nature which I don't have. I mean, I like him because Shunsuke is an artisan spirit.

Everyone know you must do just practice repeatedly to improve your skill. But not everyone can just do that. Almost all the people focus on their goal at beginning, but most of them give up halfway. As for me, I'm definitely not a person who can keep doing same thing.

I truly admire the person who build the base firmly first. Only a person doing that can make an ideal building on it. But the strong base can not see from the outside. So, someone says he/she can make that because of having a gift from God. But it is not true.

I started playing guitar again early this year. I could already play one song named "Black bird". It was only song I could play perfectly. And I wanted to play my favorite song named "Is this the world we created?". Then I asked my friend to lecture for me. I practiced like crazy, and soon I could play it. But just at the moment I could do, I felt enough, and quit to practice any more. When I met the friend after one month, I tried to play the song in front of him. However I forgot it completely.

The friend lecturing me has completely contrary nature of mine. He knows that there are no shortcuts to success. He thinks like that, there are nowhere your goal, you must see new goal if you keep doing. However I'm really terrible with doing that kind of thing...

To keep doing my best for is the most important challenge of my life.

thanks, my great-aunt

My great-aunt on the father's side passed away yesterday. And there was her funeral today. It was very sudden, I could not go back to our hometown, Hiroshima.

I met her when I attend a family function, but it was not so many times. But every time I meet her, she told me how nice my real mother was.

Because my real mother died about 6 months after I was born, I have no memories of her. So, I remember I felt awkward whenever my great-aunt started to talk about my real mother, and it was hard to reply.

She was a very talkative, cheerful and more tender-hearted person. I think it was three years ago when I met her last. At that time, she asked me why I didn't want to marry. I answered it was not true, I wanted to marry, but just I didn't have any chance to meet the man for me. She said "I can not die until I saw you be happy." And I said, "OK, I want you to live long, so I don't want to marry."

After that, the time to say goodbye, she let me grab 5,000yen in my palm, and said stroking my hand gently, "I'm sorry, I can not give you enough, I can not do anything for you."

it is hard to write. I can not write any more because I can't stop crying.

Hi, great-aunt, do you come and see me now? Can you see how I feel? Thank you for everything what you have done for me. I want to see you at least one more time to say thanks.

what happened?

What'd been going on with Google today?

I could not use any Google service this afternoon. That's so strange.

I usually use Google engine as web search engine, and I set up the Google tool-bar on my browser. But when I searched on the bar, every result was "not found".

So, I went to Yahoo home page, and searched about news of Google service, but there were no news about that.

I felt little bit scare. Was it a trouble with only me, or was anybody in trouble same as me?

I wanted to share with someone what has happened today on the Google service. Then, I changed my entry site of BrogMura to my previous URL, and posted below comment in there.

===========================================
# Note: My blog site is not available.

It seems that all of the server of the Google have been down today. I can not see my blog site "http://notyet-goeasy.blogspot.com/" which is provided by Goggle, and can not open anything about Google service as well.

So, I changed my entry site of BlogMura temporary. Here is my previous blog site. I am going to rewrite my entry site of BlogMura when Google service become available.

===========================================

Soon after I posted above comment, I could use Google tool-bar!! My blog site is available as well!! Oh, my goodness, I should not have spent my study time in vain!!

croquettes

I'm very sleepy today. Maybe I'll take a nap after lunch. Because, I could not sleep well last night as I had an upset stomach.

When I went grocery shopping yesterday, a bargain price tag jumped to my eyes. "Bargain sale of prepared food : You can buy any three croquettes for the price of two." I though it was good deal, so I bought pumpkin's.

At my dinner time, after eating two of them, I felt enough. But the dish of the night was only croquettes, so I ate them up not to be hungry after dinner.

Soon after, I felt sick to my stomach. Then, I drunk a cup of coffee for the help of my digestion. Usually coffee has a good effect on my digestion. But it was not effective enough for heavy stomach last night. Although I took medicine, I felt worse after that.

Then, I suffered stomach all through the night. The shop must have used super-used-up cooking oil. Damn!

Actually, it was my own fault though... I won't eat too much croquette any more.

Torch Relay in Nagano

Did you watch the live TV broadcast of torch relay? Did you see a mad amount of big flapping Chinese national flag along pavement? I wonder where to buy that big national flag. And why did all of the police officer wear the red cap? I felt strange because it was covered everywhere in red. It looks as if in China. Obviously I can't say the cap was stylish.

Anyway, in my opinion, I believe Tibetan must get autonomy from the Chinese government. I wonder why almost all Chinese students have the same opinion. They can browse to everywhere in the Internet without control of the Chinese government in Japan, can't they?

Despite the fact that they can change their points of view from home country to oversea, they still stay in brainwashed society. Don't you think it is strange? Why do they not try to debate with other opinions in spite of staying Japan? If they really want to get right to free speech even in their home country, they have to recognize view of world wide.

You might feel my opinion was too much conceit, if so, sorry... Of course I can not say I myself understand of opposing points of view every time. But I know everybody has their own world view, I think it is important to try to listen what he/she believe in.

We know Japanese government never states our representative opinion. We never swallow anytime what government says. I think it's time Chinese have to notice there are nowhere indisputable truth.

But I am sure there are some of Chinese students who learned what is real democracy and human rights. They might be still minority, I hope they change their home country in the future. And I hope Tibetan won't despair of the future of their authority after Olympic games. Maybe some media will have been keeping an eye on the issue after Olympic games. I hope so.

welcome to my blog

Hi! guys. How are you? Nice to meet you, I'm yuki. Welcome to my blog, I'm glad to see you here.

Do you think it is strange that I'm suddenly greeting to everyone? Never mind. Just I wanted to say hello. I saw my Google Analytics site today after a long interval.(I wrote about it in a diary. Please read here, if you would.)

And, guess what? Look at the below map. There were some visitors who were from Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Sapporo. It made me so happy. I feel like I'm not alone any more.

The last time I checked the analyzing report, only the circle of Tokyo was getting bigger. And the results of unique user number was 1. It means only ME visited my blog site every day. The results is too miserable of me, isn't it? Although I thought I might have been better if I had asked my family or friends to visit my site, I couldn't do that because they aren't interested in English blog.

Thank you anyway, my guests!! I'm happy to have you any time. And please feel free to comment, if you would.
As you know, I usually write wrong sentences. So, if you let me know which part I mistook, it will be nice with me. eh? You don't mind? Ok, I'll try not to care, too!

Apart from that, in the lunch time today, I got a message to my cell phone from my friend. It said : Sorry, I won't go out with you on this weekend, as we have a camp training of band.
Well, it's OK with me, no problem. Maybe I will accomplish my overdue assignment during GW. Otherwise I won't be able to catch up my schedule.

However I might feel awkward during GW, because usually most of the blogger report their happy holiday on their blog site. Umm... It might be better that I go to stroll to take some colorful picture to upload here. They could camouflage my boring life, ha ha.

brain

I have a slight headache. I can't stand reading biological textbooks which was based to animal experiment. Although I have to think over calmly to make a short thesis, always some sympathy appears suddenly in my mind. I am likely to cry.

Anyway, as you know, in evolutionary history, human made wrinkle in the brain to create more surface area. However dolphin created larger surface area than human's.

I understand that the more the body size become bigger, the more their brain gain the weight, so no wonder that elephant or whale has bigger brain than human's.

But non-human didn't have to create more surface area. Why does dolphin have super-wrinkling brain?

I asked my tutor why, but he said it is not matter whether surface area is larger or not, because only human creates sophisticated tools, and has verbal skill thanks to the physical ability and social nature. Of course I know that, but I wanted to know why dolphin had to create more surface area into their limited brain area.

Yuji Ikegaya said in his book, unfortunately dolphin doesn't have hands and fingers, so they can not use up their brain cleverly. Well, why does he assume, dolphin has not enough wisdom which deserve their brain? Why does human always prejudge even about our non-experience? It might be only we can not see.

It was too hard to write in English. I won't be able to write this topic even by my mother tongue. whoof...

rice cooker

It was my mother's birthday today. I sent two china bowls, a terra-cotta pot, and 10kg of rice.

Don't you think the last one is not suitable for birthday present? I think so, too.

In my year-end homecoming, my parents was talking about rice cooker over dinner. They was impressed by a different taste of rice which was steamed by new model rice cooker bought my mother's cousin. They wanted to buy one, but it cost over 100,000yen, so they've been still in two minds about that.

Although I wanted to buy it to my parents, I was unable to afford to. Then, I thought that it would be the same if grade of rice changed higher, instead of rice cooker. That's the reason I sent her the highest-quality rice.

I guess that she wasn't happy with the rice as she didn't know what I'd thought. But it's OK because rice never go to waste. I also sent a message to her cell phone: As you don't have to buy rice this month, you can buy something you want by the cost.

Apart from that, I am going to accomplish one of my assignments, planned to submit three days ago. I've not been able to concentrate recently, but thanks to a visitor of this blog, I've felt better now. He left me a message this morning, and I've visited his blog site. At the site, I read an article of the reason why he wanted to keep a diary in English. After I read it, I reread my first article which expressed my wishes. That reminded me that I've had some hopes.

I've borrowed three books from the library to write my overdue assignment. I'll get down to it now!

partner

Umm... I really want to change my life recently. How? I have no idea, it's definitely my own business though... Maybe I need someone who show me another new world.

I have a best male friend. He knows all my character, so I'm very comfortable with him. I respect him with some good points which I don't have. But,,, I think it is not good if I just spend with him whole of my life, because he seems not to consider me as his partner. Apparently he and I have nothing in common. It is fun to chatting over drinking, but he don't show interest in my topic which is heavy themes such as world poverty.

I've noticed my own true feeling recently. Although I like to spend alone, the reason is just I assumed firmly anyone who I love don't love me. Why do I think so? I don't know. It might be I don't like me by myself. However I am getting to think it was my silly belief which I made in my mind. Why did I need to assume that I could not meet my lover forever? I've not even looked for someone who has a lot of in common with me.

Unless I eliminate my dangerous illusion, I cannot share sweet and bitter of life with anyone. It might be time to change my go-it-alone mentality.

a phone call

I got a phone call this morning from my father. He asked me whether he could offer to NEC to fix his PC without the guarantee card because his PC got a display trouble recently. After I gave him a note PC for his birthday present in 2005, the PC had broken within a year. But, he was not in trouble at that time, because NEC was famous for the greatest support in Japan, a staff came and checked the PC, and fixed completely.

I know if a PC had a hardware trouble within one year, the PC has a higher possibility of breakdown. So, I ordered extra 3 years guarantee after that. But I had NEC send the application form to my father's house, so I don't know the contract at all.

I said that I would e-mail him after checking my copy of the guarantee order form. However I could not log-in to NEC user site. If I was unable to log-in, I could not see the order information, so I decided to call to the support center at 9 a.m. sharp when it would be opened to request a new user-ID and password.

Although I called a toll-free phone number, the line was very very busy, so I was holding the phone over 15 minutes. But I felt good because the support was very functional system and the staff was kind. I said to him thanks a lot.

But, as I hung up the phone, I got an e-mail from my father like this.

"I found my guarantee card, I'm sorry for all the fuss, in spite of the early morning.

What??

Well, it will be nice that he can manage all of the trouble by himself. I'm glad to hear that.

nothing special

I feel that studying psychology is not fun recently. I cannot say why, but I am lack of energy somewhat.

However, I am not going to change my resolution which aim to get almost of the course credits at my third grade. So, I just keep reading and writing and memorizing everyday.

Newcomers are chatting a lot on the bulletin board of Univ. It seems they are afraid of mount of the assignments, but they are still hopeful.

Apart from that, about one month ago, my sister asked me how I think what kind of investment products is better in this depressing market. Of course I don't know as I am not a financial planner, but she assumed I was checking financial news more than her.

After that I became minding topics of the Reuters news sometimes. And I've read the news today that Kobe Steel announced to float 2000 million yen of corporate bonds on 18 April. I have no idea whether everybody can buy it or not, and whether she would be interested in it or not. But I sent an e-mail of information to her; I recommended her asking a securities company for more information, if she would like to buy it.

A Girl on the Throne

The below article is written by Agnes Chan who is a singer, an UNICEF ambassador, a writer and a professor. This essay named "The Right Track" is used as English course-4 textbook at my Univ. I will write down all of the article little by little to gain my comprehension, and remark my impressions of each unit last.

Unit2 : A Girl on the Throne? Why Not?

When Crown Princess Masako gave birth to a baby girl, Princess Aiko, Japan celebrated the news, with everyone joining in to welcome the new arrival.

However, because the baby was not a boy, unspoken disappointment was in the air. A boy would have been second in line to the Imperial throne. But Aiko is a girl, and she is not eligible to ascend to the Imperial throne, not unless Japan revises the Imperial House Law, which states that only a male offspring can sit on the Imperial throne.

If the law remains unchanged, Masako might be under pressure to give birth to more babies until she has a son.

Some lawmakers have said they are not opposed to the possibility of having an empress in the future. But they also say more time is needed to discuss the specific issues involved.

Although I had seen the Prince and Princess several times at previous functions, I recently had the opportunity to meet and talk with them face to face. Both showed a keen interest in the affairs of the world's children. Crown Princess Masako, who was quite knowledgeable about this subject, showed genuine concern for the plight of girls in the world today. She was particularly upset to hear that two thirds of children not getting a primary education were girls.
Small gestures indicated to me that the couple are loving and kind each other and to those around them. I know they will be wonderful parents. I also believe they will be wonderful advocates of children's right and will raise Princess Aiko to become a global-minded person who can understand the pain and suffering of people everywhere.

Personally, I think it is significant that a princess was born, the public would have gone wild with celebrations. But because the Imperial baby is a girl, people are doing some hard thinking. Some must have felt disappointed and at the same time felt guilty about feeling disappointed. The issue of gender equality is uppermost in most people's minds. If the government truly wants citizens to be aware that there should be equal opportunities for both men and women, why shouldn't the Imperial baby be able to ascend the throne even if she is a girl?
Because of the nation's declining birth rate, the Japanese government has been sponsoring events and projects aimed at preaching gender tolerance. But if the Imperial system cannot shed this prejudice, how can the common people be expected to do so?

The 21st century's prosperity depends on the independence of women. The world's population will stabilize only when women are allowed to make decisions about childbirth. Poverty cannot be eliminated if women do not get paid or get credit for what they do. The people of the world will remain divided and ignorant if we do not educate our girls. Gaining equal rights is no longer a struggle just for women, but a necessity for the future of the world. Realizing the importance of this issue will be the key to the success of any country.

Japan was given a wake-up call when the little princess entered the world. Whether we in Japan turn over and go back to sleep while the world gets up and moves forward; or whether we open our eyes and take the lead in setting up a more equal society is up to all of us.

# My impression #

I heard this kind of stupid issue for the first time. Is this a true story? Why does Agnes know that Japanese people were disappointed at the news which Prencess Masako give birth to a baby girl. She said that "unspoken disappointment" was in the air. If so, how could she know Japanese people's minds without listening.

Those who have an objection is minority. Almost all the people celebrated the birth of Aiko sincerely. Also Koizumi party which is a regime in those days tried to change the Imperial House Law. However Prince Akishino, who is the second son of the Emperor, had a boy after Aiko was born, so the decision was postponed. The fact of which there are tenth Emperor of eight female is recorded in Japanese history. I think Agnes shouldn't have published this personal opinion as Japanese opinion. I am sure person who persist in only descendants in the male line are person involved such as noble of men. Most of the Japanese don't care at all whether the male line or female line ascend the throne.

And I think young generation don't need Emperor's family to our symbol. They are just part of citizen like us. So the points which Agnes suggested is not reasonable. We would not think over about women's rights through the imperial succession. Now, more women than men are energetic in Japan. Women will get their own rights by herself.

psychiatric medicine

I feel unwell today. Is the reason heavy rain today, or nobody accessing to my blog for now? No, it is neither of my business. I can not keep reading a textbook of psychiatric medicine.

There is no consistent pattern of symptoms in mental disorder. However a doctor has to decide a disease name to prescribe therapy or medication. But how? The more I am reading, the more I feel it is unreasonable.

In a sense, we live losing steady calm. If someone can keep one's calm at any moment, he/she must be another Buddha. It means each one suffer different type of stress from a lot of different type of mental activity. So, it can say everybody has different type of mental disorder.

I think if a patient could not relieve the stress, he/she would suffer another type of disease after an over-prescription. Is it something we can call it as "cure"? I don't want to learn a huge number of nonsense words as just my knowledge .

the garden

I feel like talking about my family. I live in Tokyo by my own, and my parents and my sister are in Kure City in Hiroshima Prefecture. My parents are very happy with their garden which views are changes from season to season. Since my mother bought her own cell phone last year, my father borrow it, and become taking the garden pictures to send to me. To be honest, it is too small to seeing the beautiful blossoms. But I am glad that he think to want to let me see some of them.

I usually go home to my parents at the New Year Holiday season. So, I can enjoy blossoms of camellia every year. But I don't know how the garden change in another season, so I am looking forward to seeing another season's photos.

In this spring, my father has e-mailed me some photos which is blossoms of cherry and magnolia, and maple. I got the mayple's one today. He said he can enjoy red coloring of leaves not only in autumn but also in spring. Maybe my father will send me a picture of crape myrtle's blossoms in summer.

Google Analytics

As I mentioned yesterday, I've relocated my blog site to here from Excite. Then to share my blog to everyone, I checked the next basic option to "yes". One is "Add your blog to our listings?". Another one is "Let search engines find your blog?". However I could not seek the access number which shows how many people visited my blog. I saw every setting form, and I noticed that this site don't provide us that kind of service like Excite.

So, I had to set something by myself to know the figures. After googling a comparative sites of free analyzing service, I chose "Google Analytics " because I don't have to put their ads on my blog. (Some of the free service have to put on the logo for ads.)

To analyze the visitors, I had to add a tracking code to my each contents. It was yet another annoying work following yesterday... It hurts my left shoulder to click a mouse by my right hand in a row. However I can not yet see the reports because it takes 24 hours to analyze it first time. I think if the results was all 0, I must be shocked.

Now, I'm ready to share my blog. And if you kindly inform my mistake, I would be very glad. Please feel free to leave any comment.

Apart from that, I started reading another text book, physiology psychology. I think bioethics is kind of philosophic, but physiology is very scientific. To know the mechanism of brain is extremely interesting except about animal experiment. Maybe scientist say, thanks to animal experiment, disease could be revealable. But there are no reasonable excuse to hurt animal, in my opinion.

Anyway, there are four thesis and one examination to get the credits in physiological pshchology course. I will start to write one of them. The theme is physiological features of human brain which compared with vertebrate. I am going to submit it until 20 April.

PS I didn't have to attach the Google Analytics tracking code every page. After attaching, I removed them all. It was labor in vain!!! I ended up adding one script into the Post Template area. That was enough :'-(

Tuesday, 15 April 2008

I'm exhausted.

I've submitted the short thesis of bioethics this morning as I said yesterday. It spent much longer than I expected, but I have nothing to regret about it because I really put a lot of effort into it. Hopefully, it will be able to be gotten a passing score, and it's better if the points will be over 90. But if I get under 60 points, I will definitely lose my motivation.

Putting that aside, I transferred my blog site to Blogger today from Excite! The reason is simple. When I decided to keep a diary in English on a blog site, I didn't have any confidence to keep that. So, I just chose the blog site without any thinking. However I could keep updating everyday for one month. Then, finally I decided to expose my poor English. But Excite has a limit, we cannot upload graphic data to the server over 30 Mb. It was too small. I didn't notice that until I open the site.

It is good as I can upload my graphic data till under 1GB. But the transferring was too much trouble, and it was beyond my imagination. I should have decided to change my blog site at least two weeks before. I will never do that again.

Monday, 14 April 2008

keep going

What a relief! I've almost finished my first assignment of my 3rd year semester. It was scheduled to submit on 15 April, so I will make a good start! The assignment is bioethics. To get the course credits, I have to submit four short theses and take one examination. So, I've still only finished one fourth of them.

However I am still in a hurry because I am going to take two quizzes of psychiatric medicine. But it is not serious as I can try it again the day after the failed quizzes. Although I will be unable to gain a good mark, I have to at least try to fulfill my schedule.

Oh, I have one more good thing. It has just passed one month today since I started this blog. I didn't have confidence that I would keep a diary in English every day. So, this site has not been set to do the ping of update to the main blog site. I am not only lacked of confidence to keep the update, but also afraid to expose poor English. And I also think like that, "Who would read my boring diary???" But it might be a time to inform to the main site.

Not "halves" but "doubles"

The below article is written by Agnes Chan who is a singer, an UNICEF ambassador, a writer and a professor. This essay named "The Right Track" is used as English course-4 textbook at my Univ. I will write down all of the article little by little to gain my comprehension, and remark my impressions of each unit last.

Unit 1: Not "halves" but "doubles"
I recently watched a television program whose theme was "children born to parents of different races or nationalities." It featured people who are opposed to international marriages because they believe that children born to these parents suffer bullying and other hardships.
Discrimination arises from ignorance, fear and the need to feel superior to others. We have to teach our children to respect one another and to be kind to all people, regardless of racial differences. We adults must be careful not to discriminate against other cultures ourselves. Children will adopt our attitudes. And prejudice, once planted, is hard to root out.
Japan is not the only country that gives children of mixed heritages a hard time, but because being foreign is still rare in most Japanese schools, "halves" are an easy target. However, as many people on the TV program pointed out, "halves" are actually "doubles", because they are exposed to two different countries. Many of these children are bilingual, and they have more than one place to call home. In this global world, this "extra" background definitely gives them an edge in having a wider range of choices. But I can also understand how difficult it is for a person who is young and self-conscious to be seen as "different" and an "outsider."
If mixed-race children are made to feel unwanted by their peers, they must turn to their families for spiritual support. Their parents must teach them not only to accept the hard facts of life, but also to feel proud of themselves as individuals. These children should be given every opportunity to "feel natural" by forming friendships outside of school and in more "international" circles. They must know that being different is not a disadvantage at all, but great chance, and that having a "double" background is a lot of fun.
The those on the TV show who spoke out against cross-cultural marriages pointed out that half of these unions end in divorce. Marrying a person of a different heritage raises the risk of a ruined relationship, they said, and the children born to these parents suffer the consequences. It is probably true that the risk are higher, but one must also remember that 50 percent of such marriages do work.
A successful marriage depends not on whether the husband and wife were born in the same country, but on how much they feel they belong to each other and to the family that they have set up. If you are thinking about marrying a person of a different race or from a different country, trust your heart and that of your partner. If you feel you are made for each other, do not hesitate to get married. After all, love is the best thing that can happen to us.
Still, I must admit Japan is not an easy place for foreigners to feel a sense of belonging. I hope this will change, because Japan needs more oreigners to come and boost the country's work force. Japan not only needs goodwill between newcomers and Japanese, but it also needs them to fall in love with each other so more families can be set up and more babies can be born to stop society from aging at the present alarming pace. We must understand that these families are the families of the future. As interactions between different peoples become more frequent and more inevitable, mixed marriages will become the norm. A more open attitude toward mixed couples and their children is not a choice, but a necessity for the survival of the country.

# My impression #

I don't agree her about last paragraph. I think preventing discrimination will link to stopping the declining birthrate, but it should not be the purpose to drop the discriminatory society. Most of the Japanese think like that, most of the colored races people staying in Japan come to earn money to feed their family living in their home country.

As America is often referred to as meltingpot, the nation is ethnically and religiously diverse. But they usually make a community by themselves because there are many people of same country or same race in the U.S. They can do that because America has a huge land to share with a huge number of immigrants. So, the community can also make a mosque for Islam in even mainly Christian country. In contrast, Japan is small country, and the population is already over 100 million. I think that most of the foreigners staying in Japan want to just earn money, and go back to home country. Because they know that Japan is not a stable country to leave a offspring.

As Agnes mentioned it in the essay, discrimination arises from the need to feel superior to others. So, I think it is rare to be opposed to international marriages between white people and Japanese because Japanese think white people staying in Japan are rich. To the contrary, colored races people are regarded as poor.
Don't you think the discrimination is the same as the labor class. The white-collar workers earn good salary, but the blue-collar workers can not earn enough money regardless of their hard work. They say there is a clear correlation between poverty and crime. It might be natural that coward Japanese try to keep crime away. That means, Japanese think human being is "homo sapience" not "homo patiens". Agnes said, Japan needs work force, and needs babies. But the point of view might cause another discrimination. It is dangerous to think of foreigners as labors like a horse.

my host-family's journey

I've got an e-mail from Brenda. She said they had just returned home from a week long holiday in Las Vegas as Colin's birthday celebration. Regardless of having work, it is very nice that they can afford to have a long journey twice a year. They are going to go to Australia and Newzeland in Christmas holiday. I replied to her soon as below.

Thank you for your e-mail!! All of the stories of your travels were extremely exciting! I can't wait to see the photos. I've thought you two like a cozy place for your holiday. But Las Vegas is the most gorgeous and glittering town in the world isn't it? So, if you don't care to be squeezed on the train, why don't you visit Tokyo next year? If you do that, I will make a perfect plan for your journey.

Your life is my ideal life. You have the lovely house and garden, the challenging position, cheerful friends, bright and beautiful children and especially gentle husband. Above all, you have a fulfilling life. Of course I am sure all arose from your effort, and you deserve all.

I still spend uninspiring life by myself. Although I've been into study at the university now, I don't have any purpose of my life in it. I know it is shame that I can not see how I live even at my age. But I got totally fed up with the hard work because I've been seeing many colleague had a severe mental illness. For now, my small wish is to get credit needed for graduation at my 3rd grade. And I hope to go backpack abroad at my 4th grade. Of course I can not earn enough money because now I just run a small personal business on the Internet. But,,, Que sera, sera! Whatever will be, will be, right???

To tell you the truth, I use the translating software to check my English. But even so, I am glad to hear that you could understand my English sentences. Although at one time I hoped to enter graduate school to be clinical psychotherapist, I had to give up because of my poor English skill. So your words cheered me up. I will keep studying English.

I am looking forward to seeing the photos. And give my love to Claire. Oh, almost forgot, my birthday is around Claire's in May. But you should not say sorry to me. I have only one host-family, but you took care of a lot lot of students, so you don't need to memorise the birthday.

Have a nice weekend at Claire's!!
With love.

uniform

It is true that they say time flies like an arrow. I am really in rush finishing the bioethics report-1, but I just repeat writing and erasing again and again. I have to finish it today thinking as the dead line is tomorrow. Because I plan to take two short tests of psychiatric medicine on 15 April, so I need time to read and memorize the units.

Anyway, I had an e-mail from my sister. Unfortunately she can not wear her replica uniform this year. Because the back number of her uniform is Arai's who left the club. I wonder whether Arai had thought or not about his fans wearing the uniform with his back number when he decided to leave the club. If I were him, I could not have made a decision to let the fans down. She said she bought a sun-visor printed with the Carp logo. And she is going to go to the Hiroshima stadium with putting the sun-visor on. She also hope to go to the stadium, the Jingu stadium or the Tokyo dome when she came to Tokyo. I will gladly become her company.

nothing special

I have nothing to write today.

I can not still finish my assignment. But I noticed one thing through my study. I've thought I would never want living, if I got the situation which is not to be able to act by myself in future. But it was selfish thinking. I learned that there are two different way of thinking about the essential nature of human-being. One is "homo sapiens", the other one is "homo patiens". I didn't know the word "homo patiens".

I've thought it was most important to be independent if you had the ability. I hated to rely on someone, and I could not stand being forced. But we are a part of nature, so we can not keep all of pain away, such as things coming from illness, death, and disasters. We have to accept all of them which not only joy but also pain. And we have to care each other whenever and whoever if someone was weak. Because we are all "homo patiens".

Apart from that, the Dalai Lama stopped over in Narita for 10 hours on his way to the U.S. He was smiling to the press all the time, it seems he is a very friendly person. I respect him because he is good listener in spite of being a supreme leader as well as a Nobel Prize winner.

bioethics assigment 1

I know I have to get focused and devoted to my assignment, but I can't do that. I don't have enough concentration. If I start thinking about the assignment, soon something new interrupt me, such as ruminating about the past, or imagining happenings.

I've already been studying on bioethics for 5 days. First day, I just read the book, and thought over how I make the formation of the essay. And next day, I started writing the essay using some key words from the study guide as an aid. However I still can not write in even an opening sentence.

The theme is about the problem of health and illness over thinking human being as homo patiens. All of human being are those who are worried and suffered. Human is the existence who is possible to have illness any time.

The problem could be that each person not try to face to oneself in their life. I think it would be abnormal if people think to keep working is their purpose of life because we should not be like robot. Same as it, I think it is also crazy that people think to keep health is their own goal of life. It is normal that our body and mind is not always good harmoniously. It could be important that each one notice how to adjust their own mind and body everyday.

Olympic torch

BBC News reported : "French security officials have been forced to extinguish the Olympic torch three times as it passes through Paris ahead of the Beijing Games in August. "

I am a modest person, but I tend to become a aggressive person when we have to act to get the rights which we believe. So, I approve the protest demonstration for Tibetan independence, and I think I would take part in if the torch relay were planned in Tokyo instead of in Nagano. However I have no idea why the activists try to extinguish the fire of the Olympic torch. I think no one should not have been arrested during the relay. The most important thing is to raise a voice in protest. If the activists acted of violence, it would be same as China.

To change the subject, although I don't leave any message on it, I visit sometimes David Barker's blog site. His story is not always my cup of tea, and he usually has opinions which is contrary of mine. But today's topic was so nice that I was moved to tears. He introduced us a series of five short stories about how we treat people. Here is one.

"Always remember those who serve."

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. 'How much is an ice cream sundae?' he asked.'Fifty cents,' replied the waitress. The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.'Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?' he inquired.By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.'Thirty-five cents,' she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins.'I'll have the plain ice cream,' he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

How was that? What a sweet boy he is! We don't have a custom of tipping in Japan, so I think the boy didn't have to leave the tip because the waitress was not kind to him. But it was not the matter. He had known already that we need to return a favor to anyone who served to us. It is a shame that I am lack of the spirits.

Happy Birthday Colin!!

Happy Birthday Colin!!

I wish you happy long life and good health on your birthday. You've had your birthday party with Claire on Sunday, haven't you? It's quite pity I cannot say happy birthday in person every year.

I know you become one year older than last year, but I don't have to count your years. Also you too don't have to care your age because you look very young for your age. When you lied to me about your age, I believed firmly you were around 50.I remember clearly I was very confused because I counted in my head how old you were when you had a first baby James.

I never meet nice Japanese guy like you, so I still might not have been married. You are always considerate to everyone. That's why everyone like you. It was my great honor to meet real English gentleman in my life. (I am very much flattering because I don't have any birthday present for you, ha ha ha!But believe or not, I told you true feeling.)

Seriously, at this time every year, I can't help thinking how lucky I am to have your family in my life.Hope we can get together in the future.

With Lots of Love

Colin taught me what they say "vapor trail" in English, so I made this photo card for his birthday.

muscle ache

It was a perfect day for the festival again. But I didn't go to the Koganei park, and just relaxed in my home today because I've had a severe muscle ache.

Obviously it has been caused by playing with a ball yesterday. I like exercise, but I don't work out in particular because I feel annoying to preparing for exercise.

During the playing, I had thought I would pain due to next-day muscle soreness, but I could not play in moderation because I tend to be a person who hates to lose whenever playing game.

What we did was playing catch with a plastic ball, and competed like soccer kicking the ball. For the game, we used sprigs to resemble goals. It was so fun that I became persistent.

Anyway, not to get muscle ache, at least I have to do a stretching exercise. Before going to bed, I am going to try it everyday from tomorrow.

festival

What a lovely spring weather! The Cherry Blossom Festival was held at the Koganei park. Although the peak of cherry blossom had been finished, the petals was dancing all together with the gentle breeze. It was so beautiful that it was a perfect day for the festival!

At first, my friend and I saw a marching band of the fire department, and had a light lunch on the ground, and then watched Nukui-hayashi which we was looking forward to.

To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed because I could not see very small boy dancing again, who I mentioned before. Of course I know it is perfectly natural that the about 4-year-old boy become 6-year-old two years later. But I was expecting another small boy would come into the team. However I enjoyed the entertainment very much. I think the dynamic dancing with uplifting rhythm gripped heart of all audiences.

I'll show you several photos of the dancing. And if you like Japanese traditional culture, check the Youtube site below. I uploaded the video on it.

new term

My spring break was over. A package of the text books arrived last night. I ran through the bioethics book. There are a mountain of abstruse problems, such as brain death, right to die with dignity, morality of abortion, IVF (in vitro fertilization), fetal diagnosis etc.

As I'm in third grade this year, so I have to have been used to writing a essay already. I spent at least 2 week writing only one essay until last year. But I cannot take so long time to one essay this year. I will have to change how to approach to my assignment. I will stop starting first by a whole sentence comprehension, and define the problem first, then write out the key words from text.

I saw a title 'Pregnant man talks to Oprah Winfrey' on the BBC website. What's going on? I was really confused. Then I googled about the pregnant man on the Internet.

A married man who used to be a woman says that he is pregnant and will give birth to a baby girl in July. He is Thomas Beatie, 34, from the Pacific North West of the United States. Mr Beatie was born female, named Tracy Lagondino, but had gender reassignment surgery and is now legally male and married to a woman. He decided to carry a baby for his wife, Nancy, because she had a hysterectomy years ago. He was able to get pregnant because he kept his female organs when he switched genders.

I understood why he hoped to get pregnant but in my opinion, he shouldn't do that because their baby will get a lot of media attention. Who would know the worries and troubles in the child's mind? This issue is exactly a kind of bioethics. I think that being scientifically-valid is not the same as being socially-acceptable. This will be the same for the parents who just wanted to have a baby. But the baby also have a different personality. Anyway I will have to think over on this problem.

think over what i did

First, look at the below photo.

Guess what? Yes, it's a deformed pen. Why do you think it was deformed? It's because I melted it, but without intention.

There was enough ink in the pen though, it didn't work very well. So I tried to warm it by my breath again and again. However it was getting worse, so it was frustrating.

Then suddenly I came up with a good idea. I though if I put the pen on the electric fire, the pen might work well.
At first, I was gripping the pen, and closing it up to the electric fire, then warming it for a few minutes on the face. The idea was really nice, I could write some lines very clearly.

But because I hope that the pen work well through to the end, I tried to warm it more. The electric fire was covered in the cage whose pitch was exactly the pen's right size, so I stuck the pen between the cage, then I was going to keep it for several minutes.

However I forgot the sticking pen completely since I was watching TV. Then I noticed something smelled bad like plastic burning, and if I put my eyes to the heater, I saw the melted pen and flowed ink.

It was miserable of me to wipe the ink off by thinner, it's my own fault though. And I am disappointed in myself that I act without thinking sometimes. So that means I have not grown at all...

small-market club

I feel like talking about a baseball today because my family send e-mail about it.

My sister is a die-hard Carp fan. The Carp is a small-market club whose owner is Matsuda Ford. And my father is a great fan of the Tigers which is a big-market club of a big railway company named Hankyu Hanshin Holdings. It seems the domestic conflict has been starting with start of the baseball season. It is not only a matter of winning or losing, but also a problem that the Carp is called farm team of the Tigers.

I'm not so keen to baseball but I like the Tigers rather than the Carp. Because I felt that the Tigers players were more attractive than the Carp when I was child. But I am going to cheer for the Carp (or the Carp fans) this year since I feel sorry for them.

Although the Carp is famous for developing great players from nowhere. But if they would become something, they depart from the nest via free agency. In the last off-season, a cleanup batter Arai and ace pitcher Kuroda declared their free agency from the Carp. Kuroda decided to try for the major leagues, and Arai was traded to the Tigers.

Another cleanup batter Kanemoto also had departed to the Tigers in past years, so the Arai's decision was extremely disappointing to the Carp fans. Kanemoto became a role model in the Tigers as well as in the Carp, then he developed younger members in the way of the Carp spirits in the Tigers. Also Arai longed for Kanemoto, that's way Arai wanted to be traded to the Tigers.

I know there's nothing wrong with the Tigers. However I can't stand the ones who betray his fans. I remember my sister asked me to make a booking for a replica uniform last year. I asked her which uniform number I had to choose, and she said both Arai's and Soegi's is better than other. So Arai must have been one of her favorite. Poor my sister.

I really hope that the Carp will win the games whenever she go to the home ground of the Carp.

it's April today

I got an e-mail from professor Jarrell's mail magazine this morning. He said, because of big success of his mail magazine, he got a offer from NHK as making a TV program with Katori Shingo of SMAP. Of course, I was really surprised, and thought I should tell this news to my sister, who is fan of Shingo. But, at the end of the e-mail, I was disappointed catching the line.

"By the way, what day is it today? April Fools' Day!"

After that, I wanted to cheat someone today, but I ended up giving up as nothing came to my mind.

Anyway, it's windy today. Although my friend and I are going to Koganei park where cherry festival is held this weekend, most of the blossoms would be blown away today. But we won't care even if we could not see any blossoms in the festival. We are looking forward to watching Nukui-hayashi(a kind of dance performance with Japanese flute and drum). We enjoyed it year before last. It made us very happy with the skillful funny dancing of small boys. The boys was sometimes coming up to audiences, and if a audience extend a hand to the boy, he gave handshake while dancing. It was so cute!!! I can't wait to see them again.
